Zombie Employees
Why do they keep looking alive and coming back, back, back!?
For my purposes a zombie employee is an employee that has been eviscerated by circumstance, lack of management support, health issues, or such. These employees often live the living death for years; showing up to work every day, not really contributing anything, maybe not even grumbling, just existing as the living dead in the workplace. The term "warm bodies" comes to mind - we hear this a lot when we talk about the upcoming productivity increase due to the harnessing of Watson, Siri, and the like. Warmbody employees are simply at the switch in case the power goes down or an unexpected program feature comes up that has undesirable effects.
What motivates zombie employees to keep coming back? In my opinion there are two major states of being in which the zombies may exist: knowing they are a zombie and not knowing. The most common state of being is Not Knowing. This employee has been so overwhelmed with criticism, negative feedback, or no feedback that they no longer act other than to show up. These employees take a lot of sick leave and may not have any friends at work. They are typically very passive. The other state is the knowing zombie. This employee is rarer, and is typically more edgy than the other. This zombie may be actively seeking "brains" and can be somewhat passive aggressive. The surrounding unknowing zombie employees may be actively shunning this edgy zombie as the status quo is being disrupted.

Happy Birthday to me
It has been awhile since I posted here.
I'm almost finished with my masters in future studies, teaching assistant for an energy and climate undergraduate class, and happily chugging along as a happy type two.
I've been really enjoying the HAS FIT website for my exercise.
I also picked up a weekly hot yoga, bikram style yoga class at a local studio.
I rode in the diabetes bike ride in 2013. 47 miles.
Not bad for a 57 year old diabetic!

I got my wake up call last Thursday when I weighed in at work at 194!
Ouch
That means that since last January I have put on 11 pounds
I did put on a few over the last months of 2012, and I was pretty cocky about my waist line staying the same - and then it wasn't!
Still doing P90x routines.
I did not stop, but I have never picked up their nutrition guidance.
maybe I should be less focused on the diabetes and more on the nutrition with my eye to the daily meter check?
Doing some back web work on wild apricot for the Association of Professional futurists is making me wish for a more consistent word processing interface globally...
Core synergistic kicked my butt this morning.
felt good to sweat and have to quit on some moves because I was pushing all the way!
Anyway, spirits good and lots of trips planned for the first part of the year.
Looks like a good one!

Late awakening
Didn't set my alarm so when I woke up spontaneously this morning at 4:39 I realized that I didn't have time for my yoga. I was a little bummed. But after a cup of coffee got over it.
